JAN-GEL & HILLBILLY MONSTER

Okay, guys - my apologies for these two. I know I'd promised reviews much earlier - but the truth is, there is not much I can say.

Dear old Ed Wood contract player Conrad Brooks has sadly tried to recreate the Wood brand of magic on a hand-held home video camera, dealing with uncooperative inexperienced performers, requisite bad sets - and fails miserably. Dale Clukey, a "real find" as Jan-Gel - a radioactive monster on the loose in the wilds of Virginia - looks better in the monster make-up than out of it.

There is such a thing as "good/bad"...and "awful/bad". The latter term is what this was, and in spite of the terrible quality and desperation displayed (the actors', not mine!) I gave it my best shot. Truly, I did. (You HAVE to believe me!)

These two DVD's were barely watchable but I had to do it for B-Fans! Ah, the scars I will wear in my quest!

Let me also close with this: on the second DVD, "Hillbilly Monster" (allegedly a sequel to "Jan-Gel"...oh, dear) there was an exciting extra feature "Grandparents from Outerspace" again starring the prolific Conrad Brooks as, I assume, said grandfather in this fine production.

I didn't even make it to that one, however. I mean honestly - nowadays anyone with a home video camera can get a decent distribution deal.

I give these two mistakes a "Glammo BBB - B from Bottom of Barrel" - which I really didn't want to do. Sigh!

View at your own peril....and don't take the brown acid, man!
